Techniques
Janelle uses three techniques throughout her offerings:
Feldenkrais®, Child’Space® and Co-Regulating Touch
The Feldenkrais Method®
The Feldenkrais Method®of somatic education uses gentle movement and directed attention to help people learn new and more effective ways of living the life they want. You can increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement. Since how you move is how you move through life, these improvements will often enhance your thinking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving capabilities.
The Feldenkrais Method is based on principles of physics, biomechanics, and an empirical understanding of learning and human development. Moshe Feldenkrais said, “We move according to our perceived self-image.” By expanding your perception and increasing awareness, you will become more aware of your habits and tensions and develop new ways of moving. By increasing sensitivity, the Feldenkrais Method assists you to live your life more fully, efficiently, and comfortably.
Janelle uses the Feldenkrais method in small group classes as well as one-on-one private sessions. Depending on the goals of the session, Janelle may integrate some of her other skillful techniques, creating specific approaches customized for each situation.

The Child’Space Method
Before children can support their weight in standing and walking, they need a great deal of preparation. They need to be comfortable being on their back and on their belly, on all fours, and in the many varieties of sitting and kneeling. They need to be free to use their arms so that they can hold a toy and play in many different positions.
Child’Space helps babies master these important skills at an appropriate time and pace, ready to develop into toddlers who can stand, walk, run, jump rope and play with a ball. Janelle works with both babies and their caretakers, in individual sessions and small group classes.
“My toddler daughter worked with Janelle for about 9months until she walked independently. Her intuition and knowledge about my daughter’s specific needs was remarkable. She was very patient with my fussy and strong-willed toddler and knew just how to motivate her during our sessions. My daughter would make sizable progress after almost every session (it was like magic). We will always be grateful to Janelle for her help. I would highly recommend her. “

“Our son had a Level 4 stroke in his motor cortex at birth. At about 9 months we noticed he was showing signs of a pretty severe right side motor delay. We were at a loss on how to find support. Everywhere I went I found that the OTs and the PTs were not helpful, they were treating the symptoms but not the cause. I was so desperate to help him I was willing to travel anywhere in the world to get him the support he needed. After months of searching for better options all across the US and through a few serendipitous events we found Janelle Campoverde only an hour away. She was exactly the type of support we needed! She was working to rewire his brain to his body and he responded to it almost instantaneously. After the first day with her, he stood up unassisted in the middle of the living room. I will never forget the look of surprise on his face. For us she is a miracle worker. Her understanding of infant movement is extensive and awe-inspiring; not only has she been able to give our son the support he needs but she has made me feel like I am not alone in helping him physically flourish. Now our son is running alongside his friends and no one can tell that a year ago he wasn’t even trying to move his right side.”

The method is derived from Feldenkrais, infused with wisdom about neurology, brain development and movement physiology.

Co-Regulating Touch
Janelle intuitively embeds Co-Regulating Touch into her practices.
“By understanding not only how the body stores trauma, but how, through interoception, it can restore the sense of balance and goodness, the body becomes a powerful vehicle for restoring resilience.” Peter A. Levine
